Andrew is a 2-time Olympian, having competed at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics. He has also represented Northern Ireland four times at the Commonwealths and placed fifth twice in the 200m breaststroke.
Andrew became the first Irish person to win a medal at the European Short Course Swimming Championships when he finished second in the 200 m breaststroke at the 2003 Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin, Ireland. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, Andrew equalled the 200 m LC breaststroke record and placed fifth.
Andrew still holds multiple Irish National records – the 200m Breaststroke LC, the 200 & 400 IM SC, and the 200m Breaststroke SC Junior record (a record standing for almost 20 years!).
Andrew brings his vast experience as a swimmer to the role of coach with Bangor’s Age Group swimmers.
