Welcome to Bangor Swimming Club
Founded in 1919, Bangor SC is one of Northern Ireland’s premier competitive swimming clubs. March 2013 will see the dawn of an exciting new era for the club as we move to a new home in the Bangor Aurora Centre, Northern Ireland’s first full size competition size 50m pool.

Swimmers from Bangor SC have competed at all levels from Irish National level to the Olympic Games. Within our current squads we have Commonwelath Games and International swimmers, National and Ulster Age/Youth winners and finalists.
We were the first swimming club in Northern Ireland to be awarded the Clubmark SI quality award and we continue to strive to provide a safe, positive and competitive environment for our swimmers. Our vision is:-
“To produce a stimulating and challenging environment for all levels of competitive swimmers to enable each to reach their competitive potential”

BANGOR SC VISIT CORAL BAY, CYPRUS FOR TRAINING CAMP
At the end of March, the performance squad at Bangor swimming club made its way to Coral Bay, Cyprus for its first warm weather elite training camp under new Head Coach Lawrie Thomson.
The camp was a great success. A squad of 14 athletes and team managed by Pauline Kane covered 80,000m over the course of 12 challenging training sessions, land training sessions and morning runs before breakfast. The weather was great which really added to the experience and the 10 lane 50m pool, 5 star hotel and food were of the highest quality.
All swimmers thoroughly enjoyed the experience and feel it was a massive benefit in their preparation for the Irish National championships and National team trials that took place at the end of April.
Head Coach Lawrie said, “the camp was excellent and did not disappoint. This was my 6th visit to Coral Bay and as expected we were very well looked after by the hotel and the staff at Arena Sports. The camp was very beneficial and we will see the results of everyone’s hard work when they race over the remainder of the season. We would definitely like to return to Coral Bay and will recommend it every time”
